UUS Seconds kick off new season with hard fought win
The hosts broke the deadlock early on as Tommy McGlaughlin slotted over a penalty after an infringement. The Uni side came under a bit of pressure from the physical Dungannon side, but they stoof up well to it. And they increased their lead as McGlaughlin fired over a drop kick. Dungannon’s powerful running paid off before half time though as they score two converted tries.
McGlaughlin kept the hosts in touch though as he fired over a long range penalty to leave it 9-14 at the break. The scores were level just after the restart as Ricgard Brunt stole a lineout setting up a good break. After a few phases Adam Crawford drew the full back before feeding the ball inside for captain Phil McLean to go over.

Hide AdInjuries to two players and a loss of discipline were to cost the visitors dearly as the Uni boys turned the screw. McGlaughlin fired over another penalty and drop goal to give the home side a six point lead.
As the Dungannon lads strived to get back in the game a turnover by prop Darryl McCorriston saw yet another section of multiple phases and off loads allowing winger Adam Crawford, on his debut, to run 45 metres and score between the posts. Adam dropped the conversion to make the final score 27-14.
The UUC would like to pass on their best wishes to the injured Dungannon lads and wish them a speedy recovery.
