Success for youngsters
This is the club’s first season boxing out of their new premises at St Peter’s GAA Club.
The club entered 11 boxers in the Mid-Ulster Novice Championships at the weekend.

Hide AdThis was the largest entry from any club in the Mid-Ulster region and Phoenix made a clean sweep with 100 per cent success.
The championships were held at the Tyholland Boxing Club in Monaghan.
The Phoenix winners were: Boy 1, 25 kilos, Diarmuid Toland; Boy 1, 36 kilos, Daniel McManus; Boy 2, 33 kilos, Ciaran McCann; Boy 4, 54 kilos, James Brady; Boy 4, 60 kilos, Daraigh McCormac; Boy 4, 66 kilos, Conor Connelly; Boy 4, 70 kilos, Nathan Powers; Youth 1, 63 kilos, Christopher Creaney; Youth 1, 70 kilos, Ryan McEvoy; Youth 2, 66 Kilos, Eamon Derby; Girl 1, Martin Hamilton.
Just before Christmas Phoenix were invited to take part in the County Louth Championships in Dundalk.

Hide AdThey entered seven boxers and once again had great success with six of them winning titles. Daniel McManus lost by a narrow decision in the final.
The County Lough champions were: Youth 2, 70 kilos, Glenn Flanagan; Youth 2, 66 kilos, Eamon Derby; Youth 1, 10 kilos, Ryan McEvoy; Boys 1, 25 kilos, Diarmuid Toland; Boy 2, 33 kilos, Ciaran McCann; Girl 4, 60 kilos, Martine Hamilton.
