School Cross Country
Conditions were good to firm and the competitors enjoyed the bright winter sunshine during the races.
The girls got the proceedings underway setting off at a blistering pace down the opening straight. Tolulope Jide-Ojo of Portstewart PS led from start to finish to win in 5:04. Cara McLaughlin (St Malachy’s) led the chasing pack to finish second in 5:16 with Lucy McCallum (DH Christie Memorial PS) third in 5:17.

Hide AdTyler McNeill of Portrush PS took the lead during the first lap and was chased by Patrick Irwin (Portrush PS) Cathal Hynds (Glenravel PS) and James Symington (Portstewart PS).
Tyler held off the challenge of the chasing pack to win in 4:54 closely followed by Patrick in 4:56 with James coming through to take third in 4:59.
Portstewart PS were top girls team, Portrush PS top boys team and Portrush PS best school on the day.

The final race in the series will be over a 1400m course at Roe Valley Leisure Centre on Wednesday 22 January at 10.30am with the team titles still wide open another exciting days racing is expected.
