Jimmy and Gordon win HOPE03 tournament
HOPE03 was founded in 2003 by five business people from Carryduff and have in the last 10 years raised in excess of £100,000 to support various projects around the world.
Peter O’Hara Chairman of HOPE 03 said: “This year’s beneficiaries from funds raised through the Golf Classic will be split between The Welcome Organisation and Extern’s Ormeau Shelter, both based in Belfast. These two organisations help to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and rough sleeping.”

Hide AdNearly 100 golfers took part and they enjoyed the superb course and the fine weather.
The format of the tournament was four-ball better-ball and the winners with a tremendous score of 51 points were local members Jimmy Robinson and Gordon Goodfellow.

Saturday’s competition was the Peter Woods sponsored stroke competition.
The weather wasn’t kind to the morning competitors but the scoring was good. Four players shared the best nett score of 69.

Hide AdFirst place went to Darren McClure (08) with an excellent score in the conditions. Second place went to Derek Andrews (13). The low section (0 – 11) was won by Henry Moore (08) with a nett 72. The middle section was won by Colin Marshall (17) also with a nett 69.
Darren McClure also had the best gross on the day (77) but as he had already won, the prize went to seven handicapper Pete Coffey who had a seven over par round of 79.
