Galacticos see off champions Swift

The Cowboys hosted this year’s new boys, the Greenisland Colts, taking apart the visitors with session wins of 5-2 & 6-1.

Hide AdLeague runners-up the Scorpions had an impressive away win against Davy Flanigan’s Eastway.
Clare Roberts’ warriors travelled to Whitehead and didn’t have the best of evenings as they found an in-form Spartans team that only dropped 2 frames with returning player Ed McDowell signing off with a treble backed up by the ever-present Stephen McWhirter taking a fine hat-trick of his own.
The Hitmen hosted Angie Carson’s Alpha. Paul Henderson finished off his best season to date with another hat-trick and Sara Greenberg added another to her fine season’s collection.
And finally the match of the evening between the out-going champions and the newly-crowned Champions, Galacticos v The Swift.

Hide AdThe hosts lead 4-3 at the break and the pressure was on the visitors.
Derek Whiteside’s Galacticos pulled out a 2 frame lead before The Swift got back on terms at 6-5 down. With the next 2 frames shared, the Swift manager put himself in for the last and still the chance of going unbeaten. It wasn’t to be as Shaun McAlister held his cool in a tense situation to close out the match in favour of the hosts 8-6.
With the league settled, focus now moves to the end of seasonprogramme with the first running of the 5-asides next Tuesday in the Swift kicking off at 7.30pm with the Castle, Knockagh and Harbour Cups the following week.
