Downshire YM rename their ground after club stalwart
For over 20 years, the club have been playing at the Old Coach Road and now the grounds have been named in the memory of Joe McCarthy.
Joe joined the club as a player at the age of 15 and after stopping playingh, he became a committee member and club treasurer, amassing a total of almost 60 years membership until he sadly passed away last summer after a short illness.

Hide AdThe Committee have erected new gates and a welcome sign on the Clubhouse.
The red ribbons on the new gates were cut by Olwyn McCarthy, accompanied by members of the immediate family.
Also present were former players and colleagues of Joe and Councillors John and Jenny Palmer.
Downshire are also holding a Charity Night in memory of Joe for the Friends of Cancer Centre on Friday 8th April at 8pm at Lisburn Golf Club.
