Seconds made to pay for too many fielding lapses
Fielding first Victoria got off to a good start as Ben and Steven Johnston again bowled tight opening spells.
Unfortunately early two chances were put down although Steven Johnston did remove one of the openers, caught behind by Steven Adair.

Hide AdThe Instonians batsmen continued to ride their luck throughout the innings as a further four chances were dropped. The home side finally finished on an imposing 176-1.
Knowing they needed a good batting display openers David McDowell and Steven Adair both found the boundary in the first over.
McDowell departed in the next over and Adair went in the fifth over with the score on 27 for two.
Matthew Parks and Adam McClelland began to build a partnership,- and were keeping the scoring rate at five an over. The pair took the score up to 67 before Parks departed for 30, caught at deep midwicket.

Hide AdMcClelland found little support in the remaining overs until Trevor Marshall came in. He kept McClelland on strike as he went in search of a half century but he fell short when he was stumped for an excellent 41. Victoria made 114.
