Convincing win for Tullylish Ladies

TULLYLISH Ladies began their Junior League challenge on Tuesday evening with a convincing win over Loughinisland at Pairc na nOg.
Emma Drainey notched up the first point of the game, sending a message of intent to the Loughinisland defence which she sealed with a further score of nine points in a highly entertaining game of ladies football.

Hide AdTullylish were slow to start and allowed Loughinisland to go ahead by three points before the team effort started to kick in.
Once the midfield duo of Leane McKivergan and Charlotte O’Neill combined to feed the hungry forwards then the points began. Cassie Halliday and Emma Drainey found comfortable shooting distance and converted consecutive half forward opportunities into four scores for the home team.
Kirsty McInerney stamped this period of Tullylish assertiveness when she polished off a tremendous team effort, that began with a Tara Murnin clearance at corner back with an unstoppable blast of a shot that struck the back of the net.
Emma Drainey finished off the first half and started the second with points from play to give the Tullylish girls a lead of five points.

Hide AdCarla Heaney, Laura Finnegan and Laurelle Campbell tackled intently and passed the ball unselfishly to great reward for the on form shooters – Halliday and Drainey.
Ciara Gilroy held her back line intact in the second half and Tullylish retained the lion’s share of possession.
Charlotte O’Neill make an impressive run from a clearance by Claire McCartan and Charlotte displayed great balance and skill to put the visitors into an untenable position with another goal.
