Wilson raises concerns over ‘top road’ traffic
The DUP representative said he had been contacted by several constituents who were concerned about excess speed along the road and the lack of places to cross. “[This] is particularly worrying as several children and young people cross the road on a daily basis to catch school buses,” he added.
“I have raised this with TransportNI with a view to reducing the speed limit to 40mph along the full length of the road and establishing a number of traffic islands to allow safer crossing points.

“I would be eager for a positive outcome in this matter as the current situation is wholly unacceptable. Over the past number of years the amount of housing developments along the ‘Top Road’ have increased dramatically and contributed to the high volume of traffic using the road on a daily basis, not to mention the number of vehicles travelling from Carrickfergus, Larne and beyond.
“I hope that TransportNI take a common sense view on this before a family is left dealing with a tragedy.”
