Vandals are targeting new trees
The council has recently begun planting 1,100 trees in the second phase of the Neighbourhoods in Bloom project.
Unfortunately a number of the trees have had to be replaced as a result of vandalism.

No sooner were the saplings in the ground than a number were snapped in two. The project is being funded by the Department for Social Development and takes in neighbourhood renewal areas in the borough.
A council spokesperson appealed for a stop to the destruction pointing out they will not be replanting any more damaged trees.
