Kids more literate and numerate than Belfast counterparts
The latest information shows 81.5 per cent of city or town dwelling pupils aged 8 to 11 achieved Level 4 or above in English and 81.4 per cent achieved Level 4 or above in Mathematics in WELB in 2011/12.
This was better than Belfast, where 76.9 per cent achieved Level 4 or above in English and 78.2 per cent achieved Level 4 or above in Mathematics.

Hide AdBut it was worse than in the North Eastern (English, 82.1 per cent; and Maths, 82.1 per cent) and South Eastern (English, 84.9 per cent; and Maths, 85.7 per cent).
Literacy levels were lower in the Southern Board than in the WELB with an achievement rate of 79.9 per cent; but the numeracy level was higher with an achievement rate of 81.6 per cent.
