Local MLA Jo-Anne Dobson made the call following this year’s event.
She said: “Once again Scarva has hosted a wonderful celebration of our cultural heritage, attracting tens of thousands of people from across Northern Ireland and further afield to the local area.

“Promoting tourism can bring a much-needed retail boost for our local towns and villages. I will continue to press the Tourism Minister at Stormont to ensure that funds are evenly distributed across Northern Ireland and not just centred in one place or location.
“The Sham Fight at Scarva is one of the ways in which I believe that we can promote our heritage for the benefit of all, as well as increasing the economic benefit to our local towns and villages.”
