Toco toucans come to Belfast
There are less than 220 Toco toucans resident in zoos around the world and zoo manager Mark Challis is delighted to have these birds in Belfast.
“We are extremely happy to be caring for two Toco toucans. They are visually very remarkable birds. They have a large bright yellow and orange beak and big blue eyes. We are looking forward to seeing visitors’ reactions to them in the Bird Park. “

This large bill looks like it should be very heavy, but it is actually hollow to ensure they don’t tip over. Toco toucans in the wild can be found in the tropical rainforest areas of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, Guyana and Paraguay.
