Swann welcomes former PM’s grandson to Stormont
Assemblyman Swann, the North Antrim UUP Chairman, said Mr Devas’ visit was especially memorable to him personally as he now represented the Stormont constituency once held by his late grandfather.
Captain O’Neill had not only been Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, but also represented the Bannside area, which is now part of Assemblyman Swann’s North Antrim constituency.

“Capt O’Neill was a politician ahead of his time. It could be suggested the real foundations of the current peace process were laid in the late 1960s by Capt O’Neill’s visionary Unionism when he was Northern Ireland Prime Minister,” said Assemblyman Swann.
