He continued: “I reported to police in early May that Sinn Fein election posters were being removed in the town and I have contacted police again today (Friday) regarding the posters being placed on the bonfire.
“I am calling on Unionist councillors to come together and have the posters and symbols of nationalism removed.”
A police spokesperson said: “Police received a report at approximately 10.50am on Friday 11 July of a number of election posters on a bonfire in the Monrush area of Cookstown. Enquiries are continuing.”
