Safety fears as estate bears brunt of traffic chaos
The road and footpath improvement works, which got under way on January 4, are scheduled to continue for a period of 12 weeks. But after just one day of disruption, people living along the diversion route have raised fears about the safety of pedestrians in the area, particularly schoolchildren and senior citizens.
The Chairperson of Ollardale Community Group, Valerie Jenkins, said that local residents had received no prior notification that their streets were going to be used as a diversion route, and described the traffic situation in the estate as "a nightmare."
