Right royal affair at theClanmil dance
More than 100 people attended the event at Rathmore Golf Club in Portrush, many sporting crowns and tiaras in keeping with the event’s royal theme.
As well as marking Her Majesty’s milestone anniversary, the event also raised much needed funds for a very worthwhile cause. All of the proceeds from a raffle supported by local businesses, will be donated to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice which cares for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Hide AdFiona Milnes, Clanmil’s Scheme Co-ordinator at Abercorn Court, and Lillian McCullough of Cramsie Court, organisers of the event, told the Times: “Everyone at Abercorn Court and Cramsie Court wanted to do something special to mark the Jubilee. 60 years on the throne is such a remarkable achievement and we wanted to be part of the celebrations that are taking place all over the country this weekend.
“We’d like to thank all of the local businesses who supported us by supplying prizes for the raffle and also everyone who came along this evening. Not only have we raised a substantial amount for a very worthy cause but we’ve all had a great time.
“At Clanmil we believe in encouraging our older tenants to remain active and connected with the community and events like this help them stay busy and involved.”
Local businesses that supported the raffle were Hillcrest, McClarey’s Butchers, Maxol, Jaspers and Nisa in Portrush, along with McAtamneys Butchers, Gordons Chemist, Tweeds, Costcutter, Spar and Sue’s in Ballymoney.
