Quick-thinking surfers rescue boy swept out to sea at Portrush
Rescue officers from Coleraine and PSNI personnel responded to the 11.30am incident following a 999 call to Belfast Coastguard.
“The 12-year-old boy had been body-boarding with his family when he had been caught in a rip current and carried away from the shore.

Hide Ad“Two quick-thinking surfers immediately went to his assistance and brought him to safety,” according to a posting on Coleraine Coastguard Facebook page.
The Coastguard said that both Portrush lifeboats and the Coleraine coastguard team were tasked to the incident but that when they arrived the boy had been rescued and did not require any attention.
