£4m distributed in EU grant aid to rural areas of North West
A total of 136 projects in the ARC North West region covering Londonderry, Limavady, Strabane and Omagh received £4,025,814.
Only in the South West region covering the Magherafelt, Cookstown, Dungannon and Fermanagh areas was there a greater number of projects benefiting.

Hide AdAgriculture Minister Michelle Gildernew outlined the grants roll-out under Axis 3 of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) in response to an Assembly Question.
ARC North West is the delivery mechanism for Axis 3 & 4 of the RDP 2007-2013.
The RDP is part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
The programme is strategically delivered by a Statutory Joint Committee representing all four Councils and implemented by a Local Action Group (LAG) comprised of representatives from the business, community, agriculture, council and statutory sectors.
The Minister also revealed that a total of £4.7m has been spent on the administration of Axis 3 across Northern Ireland to date
