Pig farm plan: More than 700 objection letters sent to council
The application to build an intensive pig farming unit capable of housing up to 30,000 animals has been met with significant opposition from local residents and animal rights activists.
According to the council, a total of 771 letters of objection to the pig farm plan have been recorded to date.

Hide AdIndeed, the local authority’s planning department has confirmed that due to the “significant volume of representations” received in relation to the application, “it will no longer be feasible to individually notify all those who have made written representations or make them available to view on Public Access.”
The council’s planning section has given an assurance that issues raised in all representations received will be considered as part of the processing of the application.
An online petition opposing the pig farm plan has attracted more than 195,000 signatories.
