Outcome baffles councillor
The application at the Golf Links Holiday park will see an extra 23 caravan plots at the site.
One objection letter was received, and an office meeting was held for the objector in July. At the meeting no new issues were raised, therefore planners listed the application as an approval.

Hide AdSpeaking at Tuesday night’s meeting, Portrush councillor Christine Alexander said: “Council commissioned this strategy supported by the Tourist Board which stated that the area was served well by caravan parks.
“I just don’t see the point of this strategy if we are not going to adhere to it. I am just baffled.”
Cllr Alexander proposed that the Council should support a refusal on the application, and set up a meeting with a Planning Manager to discuss caravan parks in Portrush and Portstewart.
Her proposal was seconded by Alliance councillor Barney Fitzpatrick.
An amendment by Alderman Sam Cole to seek clarification on the issue did not have a seconder.
On being put to a vote, councillor Alexander’s proposal was lost by four votes to eleven.
