Multi-million pound power plant opens
The plant was commissioned by local farmer Andrew Thompson and is now generating renewable energy using bio-gas and a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant.
Andrew, of Thompson Recycled Oils Ltd, explained: “We as a company are delighted to finally have the plant up and running. We have always tried to stay ahead of the game and had no hesitation in making this investment given Northern Ireland’s renewable energy targets. While many companies are reluctant to invest in the current economic climate, the stable nature of the Northern Ireland Renewable Obligation Certificates (NIROCs) for AD has provided sufficient incentive longevity in making this investment.”
