Local school children benefit from Wind Farm visit
The visits were aimed at improving student awareness of sustainable energy and renewable energy technologies in line with new curriculum requirements.
Each of the primary schools including: St Brigid's PS, Cloughmills; Ballymoney, High School and St Joseph's PS, Dunloy was given a one hour tour of the wind farm and each visit was tailored for the school group and their individual needs. The visits were hosted by Action Renewables' qualified in-house teacher Adrian McLaughlin RES wind farm engineers and project managers who were also on hand to speak to the teachers and their students.

With a range of activities, including science based tours, experiments and even getting to look inside a wind turbine, it was an experience that was both fun and educational.
Fiona Stevens, Development Project Manager, RES commented: "The school visits to our wind farms offer children and teachers the chance to see first hand how a wind turbine works and of course the benefits to the environment and local community".
Fiona added: "RES have been welcoming school children to our wind farms for many years now, and we have had a great response again this year from schools across the province."
Michael Doran, director, Action Renewables commented: "Action Renewables offers free support and teaching materials on wind energy from the dedicated education website www.wiseuptorenewables.com".
