Homes evacuated in Maghera hoax alert
Homes were evacuated in Maghera on Saturday during a security alert sparked by an ‘elaborate hoax’.
Police were called to a report of a suspicious object close to residential premises at the Beagh Terrace, Maghera area.
“ATO [army technical officers] were also tasked to the scene and a number of homes evacuated.”
However, the PSNI later declared the object to be a hoax.
Residents have been allowed to their homes.
It comes less than two weeks after a hoax, sparked a security alert in the Hospital Road area of Magherafelt.
