Somers accepted ownership of the car but said that another person had been driving. There was no vehicle test certificate for the car.
Mr Richard Monteith, representing the defendant, said Somers had purchased the car for £900. It was seized by police.
He explained that his client had to pay £250 to get it back and then sold it for £800 when he got an insurance quote of £12,000.
