Eighty-five of those children from seven schools and colleges availed of the council’s Scolaireachtaí or Irish Language Bursaries to attend the Donegal Gaeltacht during the summer months.
Students attended Loch an Iúir, Machaire Rabhartaigh, Bun an Inbhir, Rann na Feirste, Coláiste Gaoth Dobhair and Teileann. Each student was presented with their own Teastas (Certificate) at the event by Council chairwoman Kate McEldowney.

In keeping with the celebrations of the week that’s in it, students entertained those gathered with music, dance and recitation reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Irish Language.
The Scolaireachtaí are open to any local student studying Irish whether at school or independently, and it is hoped that the Scolaireachtaí will become available again under the Mid-Ulster Council next year.
