First sod cut at Drumbeg Parish
Following morning worship in the historic church, the congregation made the short walk across the graveyard to witness this important landmark in the life of the parish.
Following a short Commissioning Service conducted by the rector, the Rev Willie Nixon, Bill Parkes (the most senior member of the congregation) and Rachel Price (the youngest member of the Sunday School) turned the first sod in preparation for work to commence on the building site adjacent to the church graveyard.
Special guests included Councillor Alexander Redpath, Deputy Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.
