Armed man threatened to kill dad
Barry Alan Joseph Porter (29), of Elaghmore Park, pleaded guilty to making a threat to kill and possessing an offensive weapon on June 14.
The prosecution said Porter made a ‘999’ call, claiming he was at his home address armed with a knife and was going to end his father’s life, saying he was unwell anyway and was going to harm himself.

Police initiated a firearm incident procedure and requested specialist assistance and managed to get Porter’s father out of the property to safety.
Porter eventually passed the knife to police through a living room window and was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.
During police interview, Porter claimed it was a moment of stupidity after consuming a large amount of alcohol over a number of days. He denied posing any real danger to his father.
