Cookstown incident: Two men to stand trial on charges against each other
Jonathon McCardle from Aird Close is accused of causing actual bodily harm to Robert Ivan McCaughey from Moylinney Park who in turn is accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to the co-accused.
The charges relate to an incident in Cookstown on October 13 last. Solicitors for each argued their clients were in the position of being both victim and accused and the process was a breach of human rights.

However East Tyrone Deputy District Judge Neil Rafferty disagreed and ruled the committal should proceed and any legal argument could be dealt with pre-trial at crown court. He remanded McCardle and McCaughey on £500 bail each and ordered them to appear for arraignment at Dungannon Crown Court on September 4.
