‘Brides Revisited’ at Inver WI charity fashion show
The charity helps women throughout the world who are in great need by offering mutual support, friendship and practical help to women and communities around the world. ACWW has over 460 member societies active in over 70 countries.
The organisation aims to improve the quality of life of its members through relief of poverty, relief of sickness, the protection and preservation of health and the advancement of education. Members, who come from rural and urban areas across several nations, also hope to advance peace and progress through friendship.

Hide AdThe theme of the fundraising event was ‘Brides Revisited’ and saw Women’s Institute members and their friends of all ages make use of wedding dresses for a fashion show with a difference.
Several young ladies were brought on board as models, while a few members still fitted into their own dresses.
Spectators were delighted to see the models wearing dresses dating from 1950 to the present day.
A photo presentation was also held which showed the original brides and gave the ladies in question the chance to tell the stories of their special day.

Hide AdThe group was serenaded by Jamie Johnston, the grandson of one of the members, who proved to be very talented when singing traditional songs during the intervals.
The evening concluded with wedding cake, shortbread and tea, with a total of £1,478 raised for Associated Country Women of the World.
