Air of suspense at WI meeting
It was about to be raffled, with proceeds to go to Diabetes UK. - the charity supported by Waringstown WI this year.
Jenny McGivern, from the charity, gave an interesting talk about diabetes, its causes and possible treatments. Then came the moment! Jenny was asked to draw the winning ticket.

Hide AdOne phone call by President Elizabeth Quigg and ten minutes later the lucky winner and her 10-year-old daughter arrived in the hall. What a night for Linda Ferguson and young Emma. Until the covering was removed and the doll’s house appeared Emma had no idea why she had to go to school at that time of night. All the Waringstown members enjoyed Emma’s amazement as the delights of the house were revealed.
So far the raffle has raised 633 for Diabetes UK
President Elizabeth emphasised how grateful the Institute was to Mr Hewitt for his gift of the house and to all who supported the raffle.
After some business the meeting was closed.
The birthday girl for May was Joan Smith.
The competition ‘A Sugar Free Diet Tip’ was won by Elizabeth Quigg.
