SPAR fundraising success for NSPCC’s Childline charity
The store hosted a range of activities over the fundraising weekend, including a customer raffle with prizes sponsored by local suppliers, thanks to Gourmet foods, McKays Butchers and McCurdys potatoes. The store also held a coffee morning in a bid to raise further funds.
SPAR stores from all over the country got involved in the ‘Change for Children’ weekend and raised a combined total of £12,000. These much-needed funds will enable the ChildLine Schools Service to be rolled out to even more primary schools across Northern Ireland to give children the awareness they need to recognise abuse, and to seek help sooner.

Delivered by trained volunteers and provided free to all primary schools, it aims to help children aged 9-11 understand abuse. “We are really delighted that so many stores, especially SPAR Castle Street, Ballycastle were so enthusiastic and willing to support the ‘Change for Children’ weekend. Particular thanks to their customers for giving so generously to help our ChildLine Schools Service continue to play an important role within local communities.
Corporate Marketing Controller for Henderson Group, Bronagh Luke, said: “NSPCC is SPAR Northern Ireland’s official charity partner and we are delighted to have been a part of this inaugural SPAR Change For Children fundraising event.
